Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo Vans in Maine

The Sprinter is the van you buy when the work is worth a premium — diesel torque low in the rev range, a cabin you can stand up in, and all-wheel drive you can have behind a diesel.

Every one we stock is diesel, at Mercedes-Benz of Quirk Auto Park in Bangor. Four body configurations, from a 144-inch standard roof to a 170-inch extended high roof.

What it means for your business

The only van here that pairs AWD with a diesel

Express is rear-wheel drive and ProMaster is front-wheel drive. The Ford Transit can be ordered with all-wheel drive too, but only behind a gas V6 — the Sprinter is the one that puts AWD under a diesel. In a Maine winter, for a van that has to reach the job whatever the road looks like, that is not a luxury feature — it is the reason to be looking at a Sprinter at all. The AWD build trades some payload for it: roughly 3,858 lbs against 4,211 on the rear-drive Worker.

Diesel torque where a loaded van actually uses it

The standard-output four makes 295 lb-ft from 1,400 rpm, paired with a nine-speed automatic. That is the band a loaded van lives in all day — pulling away at lights, climbing out of a yard — rather than a peak number you reach once. Every Sprinter we have is diesel.

Wheelbase and roof are the only decisions that matter

Four configurations: 144-inch with a standard or high roof, 170-inch high roof, and a 170-inch extended. Roof height decides whether anyone works standing up inside — the high roof gives 79 inches of standing height. Wheelbase decides cargo length and how the van parks. Everything else is detail.

It upfits like a premium chassis, and it is priced like one

Mercedes-Benz runs its own ExpertSOLUTIONS upfit programme, and the Sprinter is the van most specialist converters build on first. The honest trade-off is cost: the Sprinter starts well above an Express or a ProMaster. If the van is a mobile workshop you will keep for a decade, that maths usually works. If it hauls boxes on a short route, it probably does not.

Which trim for the work

Trim on a work truck is a budget decision, not a luxury one. What we actually have on the ground is marked.

Worker 3 in stock

The value build and the one to buy when the van is equipment. Diesel, rear-wheel drive, 4,211 lbs of payload.

The standard build, and where the AWD and high-output diesel options live. Most of what we stock.

Bodies that go on this chassis

Mercedes-Benz runs the ExpertSOLUTIONS upfit programme and specialist converters build on the Sprinter before anything else — shelving, service interiors, refrigeration and mobile-workshop fit-outs are all well-trodden on this van. Tell the fleet team the trade and they will spec it.

Questions businesses actually ask

Can I get a Sprinter with all-wheel drive?

Yes. Express is rear-wheel drive and ProMaster is front-wheel drive; the Transit offers AWD as well, but only with a gas V6, so the Sprinter is the one van here with all-wheel drive behind a diesel. The AWD build pairs with the high-output diesel and costs you some payload, roughly 3,858 lbs against 4,211 on the rear-drive Worker. For a van that has to reach the job through a Maine winter, most buyers decide that is worth it.

Can you stand up inside one?

In the high roof, yes — 79 inches of standing height. The standard roof is lower and suits a van you load and leave. If a technician works inside the van, the high roof pays for itself quickly.

Was this helpful?
Why does a Sprinter cost more than an Express or a ProMaster?

Because it is a different class of vehicle — diesel, a nine-speed automatic, available AWD, and a chassis that specialist converters prefer. Whether that is worth it depends on the work. A mobile workshop you will keep ten years usually justifies it; a van hauling boxes on a short route usually does not. We sell all three, so we will tell you honestly which one fits.

Was this helpful?
Are they all diesel?

Everything we currently have in stock is, yes. The diesel four makes 295 lb-ft from 1,400 rpm, which is where a loaded van actually works.

Which configuration should I order?

Start with the roof — does anyone need to stand up inside? Then the wheelbase, which sets cargo length and how easily the van parks on the streets you work. There are four builds: 144-inch standard or high roof, 170-inch high roof, and a 170-inch extended high roof.
